Choosing colour
The part everyone
gets stuck on.
Tap a swatch. It’s a toy, but it makes the point: the same room reads completely differently depending on what’s on the walls, and a 2″ chip in a shop under fluorescent light tells you almost nothing.

Prep is the job
Anyone can roll paint.
The difference is underneath.
Drag the handle across the wall. The paint is the last four hours of a five-day job — the other four and a half days are washing, scraping, filling, caulking, sanding and priming. That’s the part that decides whether it still looks like this in six years.

How it runs
Six steps, and you
know all six upfront.
The walk-through
We come out, look at every room or every elevation, and write down what’s actually there — the stained ceiling, the rotten sill, the wallpaper somebody painted over in 2004. Free, and arranged in a timely manner.
A written estimate you can read
Room by room or elevation by elevation. Product names, sheens, number of coats, what’s included, what isn’t, and the price. One page, plain English, no one-line “paint house” quotes.
Colour and schedule locked
Samples rolled, colours signed off, dates in the calendar, deposit taken. You know which day we arrive, which day we finish and who’s in your house.
Protect and prep
Usually the longest phase and the one nobody photographs. Cover, mask, wash, scrape, fill, caulk, sand, prime. We’ll show you the prepped surface before a single finish coat goes on.
Paint
Two full coats, cut by hand, sprayed where spraying is right and rolled where rolling is right. Ceilings first, then walls, then trim — in that order, every time.
Walk it with us
We hand you a light and we walk every room together. Anything you point at gets fixed before we pack up — not on a “we’ll come back”. Final payment is due after that, not before.
Finishes
Sheen matters more
than people think.
The wrong sheen in the wrong room is the reason a hallway looks scuffed after four months. Here’s the short version of what we spec and where.
Flat / Matte
Hides every imperfection. Doesn’t clean well — keep it off the hallway.
Eggshell
The default for most walls. Soft glow, wipes down without burnishing.
Satin
Where hands and steam happen. Scrubbable and forgiving.
Semi-gloss
Crisp line against an eggshell wall. Takes a scrub brush.
Gloss
Shows every flaw underneath — so the prep has to be right.
Elastomeric
Stretches over hairline cracks and sheds Carolina rain.

How we price
A real number,
before we start.
Nobody can price a paint job over the internet, and anybody who says they can is guessing. So we come out, look at the actual walls, and put a fixed price on paper — itemised by surface, prep, number of coats and what’s included, for a properly prepped, two-coat job in quality paint.
Larger multi-room jobs are priced after a walk-through — volume moves the number a long way. Every estimate we write is fixed price, not “time and materials”, so the number you sign is the number you pay unless you change the scope.

How long does a whole-home interior repaint take?
A typical 3-bedroom Charlotte home with walls, ceilings and trim runs 4 to 6 working days with a two- to three-person crew. A single room is usually one day. Cabinets add 3–5 days on their own because of the dry time between coats.
We give you a written day-by-day schedule before we start, and if we’re running behind you hear it from us the same day — not when you notice.
What prep is actually included — and what do you charge extra for?
Included on every job, no line item: moving and covering furniture, floor protection wall to wall, taping and masking, filling nail holes and dings, caulking gaps at trim, sanding glossy surfaces, spot-priming stains, and a full clean-up at the end of each day.
Charged separately, and always quoted before we touch it: wallpaper removal, extensive drywall repair, rot and carpentry repair, lead-safe work in pre-1978 homes, and mould remediation.
Whose paint do you use?
Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore as standard, with Behr Marquee and PPG where the budget calls for it. We do not use contractor-grade ‘builder white’ unless you specifically ask for it to save money on a rental turn — and we’ll tell you what you’re giving up.
You get the exact product name, sheen and colour code in writing, so in five years you can buy the same tin without guessing.
Can you match a colour I already have?
Yes. Bring us a chip off the wall, a switch-plate cover, or a leftover tin and we’ll have it scanned and matched. For HOA neighbourhoods we’ll pull the approved palette and submit for you if that’s required.
Do you paint in winter?
Interiors, year-round. Exteriors we watch the thermometer — most coatings need surface temps above 50°F and falling for four hours after. Charlotte gives us most of the year; we’ll tell you honestly if a January exterior is a bad idea rather than take the deposit and rush it.
What happens if I don’t like the colour once it’s up?
We roll a large sample on your actual wall and let you look at it in morning and evening light before we commit. It costs us an hour and saves everybody a week. If the colour still isn’t right after that, a repaint is quoted at material plus labour — we’re not going to pretend it’s free, but we’ll be fair about it.
Are you insured, and can I see it?
Fully insured, and the certificate goes out with the estimate without you having to ask. For commercial work we’ll name your entity as additional insured before the first day on site.
